It has been one hell of a year for “Unbreakable” Michael Elgin in 2011. Starting with a top-shelf performance in the “Top Prospect Tournament” in the dawning month of the year, Elgin has proven his worth to The House of Truth day after day, each and every time he steps foot in the ring.
Whether it be in singles competition against the likes of Eddie Edwards, El Generico, and Charlie Haas or in tag team competition alongside HoT stablemate Roderick Strong, Elgin has shown a power and ferocity unmatched by an man within Ring of Honor. Those attributes finally parleyed into serious success in Dayton, OH on November 18th when “Unbreakable” lived up to his name at “Survival of the Fittest 2011”.
First winning a Four Corner Survival that included Kenny King, Adam Cole, and Tommaso Ciampa, Elgin then went on to eliminate first Eddie Edwards and then Kyle O’Reilly to capture the victory, the trophy, and a future shot at the ROH World Title.
“Michael Elgin’s path to greatness was not something handed to him at birth.” Said the HoT’s Truth Martini, “He earned his success, he earned his moniker of Unbreakable, and he earned his right to challenge for the Ring of Honor World Title through hard work and dedication. Those two elements are the foundation of everything the Book of Truth teaches and it is through his obedience to my principles that Michael Elgin won Survival of the Fittest. It is this same adherence to the Book that will lead Michael to victory at Final Battle as well, and lead him to the ROH World Championship very, very shortly.”
It is truth that Elgin has earned himself a guaranteed ROH World Title match in 2012, but something not guaranteed is how easy the road to that championship opportunity will be. It certainly is not going to start easy as, at “Final Battle 2011” on Friday December 23, Michael Elgin will go one-on-one with TJ Perkins!
“Opportunity and success.” offered TJP, “Ring of Honor has offered me one, but I have yet to really make the most of the other. That has to change, and it needs to change ASAP. Victory keeps you booked, wins put you into title pictures, and those are two things that I have to have. Michael Elgin offers a mountain of a challenge no doubt; he has proven his toughness for quite awhile here and his power is unparalleled. But if I have learned one thing in my fights across the world it is this: power does not always beat speed. Strength does not always beat technique. That’s what I offer you Michael Elgin, a speed and technique that are as unparalleled as your power. Let’s see which one prevails.”
“Unbreakable” Michael Elgin vs. TJ Perking! It all goes down at “Final Battle 2011” on 12/23/11 at The Hammerstein Ballroom in NYC. Tickets for ROH’s year-end extravaganza can be purchased right here, but if you can’t be there live, then head on over to GoFightLive.TV and put in your pre-order here to catch it all live on iPPV!
